#SBSSWPL: Rangers Women remain top after draw at Glasgow City | OneFootball

Rangers stayed two points clear of Glasgow City at the top of the SBS Scottish Women’s Premier League following a 1-1 draw.

Glasgow City 1-1 Rangers Celtic 2-2 Spartans Hibernian 1-0 Aberdeen Motherwell 2-0 Hearts Partick Thistle 2-2 Hamilton Academical

Glasgow City lost captain Jo Love with an early injury and Rangers went ahead through Chantelle Swaby on 55 minutes, heading home from a Lizzie Arnot corner. Just five minutes later and City were level, Megan Foley delivering and Niamh Farrelly directing the ball into the net with her head. Jane Ross almost won it at the death for the visitors but Lee Alexander kept the ball out.

Celtic needed a stoppage-time Charlie Wellings leveller to rescue a point at home to Spartans. They had led through Tegan Bowie after a Jacynta Galabadaarachchi effort was parried but Rosie McQuillan replied and scored her second when chipping keeper Chloe Logan from 30 yards. Spartans custodian Rachel Harrison prevented Celtic sealing all three points at the death.

Hibs hit the only goal of the game to defeat the Dons, Collette Cavanagh curling the ball into the far top corner seven minutes before the break.

Partick twice lead at home to Hamilton through Clare Docherty and Cara McBrearty but the Accies twice equalised as Josephine Giard and Tara McGonigle found the net.

Motherwell beat Hearts 2-0 to go level on points with fifth-placed Aberdeen, Leanne Crichton converting a penalty and Kaela  McDonald-Nguah heading home the second.

Dundee United P-P St Johnstone (due to Covid) Kilmarnock 3-3 Queen’s Park Stirling University 0-5 Glasgow Women

An own-goal was the only difference at the interval but Glasgow Women scored four in the second half at Stirling University. Cara Henderson, Kaitlyn Canavan, Shivohn Honeyman and Nyla Murphy netted one apiece  to put their side level with leaders Dundee United.

Queen’s Park got off the mark with an impressive point at third-placed Kilmarnock but it was so nearly all three. Killie struck twice in the last few minutes, through Lisa Swanson and an Alex Middleton spot kick.
