Saudi Pro League clubs are looking for an opportunity to sign Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalan giants view the Polish centre-forward as a key player, but are not ruling out his sale if a considerable offer arrives. His contract expires next summer.
While there aren’t any concrete offers, Saudi clubs could look to make a move for Lewandowski in their extended transfer window, which runs until September 10.
However, the 36-year-old is happy at Barca and wants to lead the attack this season.
Lewandowski’s departure will alleviate the Catalan club’s financial woes, but they can’t afford to lose a player who has been hitting extraordinary numbers.
Finding a suitable replacement for Lewandowski in a short time would be challenging. Ferran Torres, Marcus Rashford and Dani Olmo are available options, but none can match the Pole’s quality.
Lewandowski has made an astounding impact at Barcelona, becoming a key figure in the post-Lionel Messi era.
He amassed 42 goals in 52 games to help Barcelona win the La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup last season.
Manager Hansi Flick plans to manage Lewandowski’s workload this season to keep him in good shape.
The former Bayern Munich star will be pivotal for Barca to end their long-running drought in the Champions League this term.
Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez has been touted as Lewandowski’s successor if he leaves Barca next summer.
The Blaugrana are expected not to make any further signings this summer following the acquisition of Rashford on loan from Manchester United.
The English forward has become Barca’s third signing of the summer after Joan Garcia and Roony Bardghji.
