A number of Saudi Pro League clubs are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Manchester United midfielder Casemiro in January

All through the summer transfer window, it’s believed that United were open to selling Casemiro but concrete offers did not arrive.

It’s understood that Saudi clubs made enquiries for the Brazilian but were put off by United’s valuation of the player.

It was recently stated that Turkish giants Galatasaray are keen on signing Casemiro before the close of their summer transfer window on Friday, September 13. A subsequent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Galatasaray were in talks with United to try and reach an agreement over a move for Casemiro.

This development came after the five-time Champions League winner endured a game to forget as United suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday.

Casemiro was hauled off at half-time after committing two high-profile mistakes that directly led to Luis Diaz’s opening strikes for the Merseysiders.

According to i news, Casemiro completing a switch to Galatasaray is extremely difficult, owing to the high wages he currently commands. For a transfer to get over the line, United would almost certainly need to cover a significant portion of his hefty salary which is in excess of £300,000-a-week.

i news notes that Saudi clubs are plotting to return for Casemiro in January in the hope that his price will have reduced.

“The 32-year-old was subject to interest from three Saudi Pro League this summer but sources in the kingdom say they were put off by United’s asking price and his high pay salary.”

“However, i understands that those same teams will return in January buoyed by the possibility of being able to bring the midfielder to the Middle East for a much lower fee than he could have commanded during the summer window.”

“United are in no desperate need to sell or move Casemiro on, especially when they cannot sign a replacement. Several sources within the club insist the attitude towards him and his talents has not changed following Sunday’s disastrous outing.”

The newspaper explains that the feeling within the dressing room is that Casemiro was “unnecessarily singled out” in what was ultimately a poor team performance.

Pete Hall also mentions that Casemiro’s place in the United team is in danger due to Manuel Ugarte’s arrival.

“Should the new signing [Ugarte] cement his spot alongside Kobbie Mainoo in the heart of United’s midfield, sources in the Middle East believe they can persuade the five-time Champions League winner to join the Pro League in the winter window, for a more palatable fee.”

“New United co-owners Ineos have been ruthless with their cost-cutting so far and the belief is they are unlikely to sanction paying someone £300,000-a-week to sit on the bench.”

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reports that Casemiro is determined to fight for his place at Old Trafford and in line with this resolve, the Real Madrid legend will reject any overtures from Galatasaray.

Casemiro was left out of Brazil’s squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay and is expected back in training after the international break to prepare for United’s next Premier League clash against Southampton.
