Saudi Arabia are keen to bring Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan to the Pro League this summer.

The 32 year-old, who is out of contract at Manchester City later this month, is yet to sign a new deal with the recently-crowned treble winners, as three clubs show an interest in signing Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer.

The German midfielder was Pep Guardiola’s first signing at the Etihad Stadium back in 2016, and the club captain has won 14 trophies with the Sky Blues, including the UEFA Champions League, after Saturday’s triumphant victory over Inter Milan in Istanbul.

Gundogan is set for talks with Manchester City over potentially agreeing a new deal, with the midfielder having played an integral role for the Blues throughout the season, scoring 11 crucial goals.

The City skipper netted a brace in the FA Cup Final against Manchester United earlier this month and scored key goals against Leeds United and Everton during the Premier League title run in.

Gundogan is subject to long-standing interest from Barcelona in Spain, while Mikel Arteta is claimed to be interested in bringing the 32 year-old to North London on a free transfer.

La Liga champions Barcelona “fear” that Manchester City will improve their contract offer for Gundogan, according to Achraf Ben Ayad, however Saudi Arabia have also reportedly tabled an offer for the German.

The Saudi government are pushing for Gundogan to join the growing list of European superstars to move to the Pro League this summer, with Santi Aouna reporting that the Saudi Government “want” Gundogan to sign for Al Hilal.

Former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema recently followed in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo in moving to the Saudi Pro League, with the league also widely claimed to be closing in on the signature of N’Golo Kanté.

Fellow Manchester City player Riyad Mahrez is also subject to interest from the Middle Eastern league after a lack of minutes at the Etihad Stadium this season.
