Saud Abdulhamid’s magical night culminated in him scoring his first goal for Roma.
The goal is one for the history books.
Saud has in fact become the first Saudi footballer to score a goal in a European competition, playing in Serie A.
The goal scored against Braga, on matchday six of the Europa League, is therefore in all respects a very important episode for Saudi and Middle Eastern football.
The full-back, who moved to Roma in the summer of 2024 amid general skepticism, has shown a rapid adaptation to Serie A, confirming his qualities of speed and quickness on the wing under Claudio Ranieri.
Born in Jeddah, raised in Al-Hilal, the defender has also stood out for his versatility and tactical vision.
Tonight’s goal against Braga, which came with a powerful shot in front of goal after a perfect insertion, therefore, comes at a time of growing investment in the football sector by Saudi Arabia, with the aim of developing the country also from a sporting point of view.
