Following last night’s action at Stade Saint-Symphorien, two intriguing clashes take place in Ligue 1 Uber Eat’s Saturday fixtures, as Nantes travel to Lorient in a derby fixture, whilst Strasbourg face a high-flying Brest side at Stade de la Meinau.

Lorient - Nantes: A high-stakes Western Derby

FC Lorient are looking for a fourth successive win in Ligue 1 as they welcome regional neighbours FC Nantes in a derby clash at Stade de la Moustoir to kick off Saturday's action. Les Merlus’ recent resurgence has been aided by new signings, especially the prolific Mohamed Bamba who has scored in each of his first four outings for the Breton side, including a brace last weekend against Strasbourg.

The previous edition of this derby saw eight goals scored at Stade de la Beaujoire, in a 5-3 win for Les Canaris. This time the clash has significant implications for the relegation dogfight, with the two sides only separated by only one position in the table.

Strasbourg - Brest: Les Pirates looking to extend historic unbeaten run

Stade Brestois will be looking to keep up their push for Champions League football after an impressive win against Marseille last Sunday (1-0) down to ten men. It was a victory which lifted Eric Roy’s side to second place above OGC Nice. They face Patrick Vieira's Strasbourg side on the road, who have struggled to put together form in recent weeks having lost their previous three matches heading into the encounter.

The visitors are now unbeaten in 11 games in Ligue 1, and if they avoid defeat will equal their longest unbeaten run in the top flight, which they previously established between April and August 1990.
