Sassuolo proved yet again to be “kryptonite” for the champions of Serie A with their surprise win over Inter Milan.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Yesterday was not the first time that Sassuolo have beaten Inter in Serie A.

The Neroverdi have notably become a “bogey team” for the Nerazzurri over the last few years.

This has seen the Emilians get results against Inter on a shockingly regular basis.

But yesterday’s match – and this season as a whole – is perhaps the clearest proof of that “kryptonite” status yet.

Inter have lost just two matches in Serie A all season.

And both of those losses came against Sassuolo.

The Nerazzurri have beaten every single team in Serie A at least once – apart from the Neroverdi.

And Sassuolo on the other hand have managed just seven win all season. Two of those have come against the champions for the relegation-battlers.

Sassuolo Prove “Kryptonite” Status For Serie A Champions Inter

In the view of the Gazzetta, it was not the worst of matches from Inter.

The Nerazzurri switched off for Sassuolo’s early goal, particularly Denzel Dumfries.

And from there on out, the Emilian team had little interest in doing anything other than defend their lead.

Sassuolo did so well. There was little space for Inter to attack.

The Nerazzurri fashioned a couple decent half-chances in the first half.

But in the second, there was a lack of fluidity from an Inter team who had changed things up with some squad rotation.

That allowed Sassuolo to hold on, fighting for every ball and breaking the match up.

Perhaps against another team Inter would have found a way to score.

But not Sassuolo. The Neroverdi showed once and for all that they are Inter’s “kryptnite.”
