Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevalli has revealed that Inter had asked to sign Gianluca Scamacca and Giacomo Raspadori earlier in the summer.

Inter had lost Romelu Lukaku in the summer to Chelsea and Lautaro Martinez was linked with a move away from the club too. Carnevali was talking to Corriere dello Sport and he revealed that the Nerazzurri had indeed asked for both Scamacca and Raspadori in the summer.

He stated: “He [Beppe Marotta] asked me for both Raspadori and Scamacca, but he didn’t make it. We want to focus on young players and for this, we have sold Caputo. Now, Giacomo and Gianluca will have more chances to show off. Our club does not need to sell at all costs and we carry out certain operations only when we deem it appropriate, also and above all taking into account the good of the boys.”

Raspadori has scored once so far in the current campaign, while Scamacca is yet to find the back of the net in the Serie A.
