Sarina Wiegman wins 2023 The Best FIFA Women's Coach | OneFootball

England Women manager Sarina Wiegman has been named the 2023 The Best FIFA Women's Coach.

It is the fourth triumph for Wiegman, who had previously won in 2017, 2020 and 2022, as she saw off competition from Barcelona boss Jonatan Giraldez and Chelsea manager Emma Hayes.

The Dutch boss led the Lionesses to their first ever World Cup final in August as her side conceded just three goals before defeat in the final against Spain. Wiegman was unbeaten in her first 30 games in charge before that run came to an end against Australia in April.

Wiegman was presented with selection headaches throughout the Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, with Keira Walsh suffering a serious injury while Lauren James was banned for two games for stamping on Nigeria's Michelle Alozie.

She was also without a number of key players throughout the tournament. Skipper Leah Williamson, Fran Kirby and Beth Mead were all ruled out of competing with serious injuries.

Speaking at the ceremony in London, Wiegman said: "Some of you are thinking 'there she is again'. I am so sorry for that. Thank you to the EFA for all your support. Thank you for all the staff. And thank you to the players. Lots of things were thrown in front of us and we did so well. Thank you to my family for being my biggest fan.

"Emma and Jonatan: Congratulations on your achievements. Thank you for the great collaboration we have with the England players that play for your clubs [Chelsea and Barcelona].

"Thank you to the non-visible coaches. For inspiring young girls and boys. We, at the senior level, benefit from your work."
