England manager Sarina Wiegman has shared her thoughts on the Lionesses' "very exciting" Euro 2025 group stage opponents.
The draw took place in Lausanne on Monday evening and the holders were placed in Group D alongside France, Wales and the Netherlands. Wiegman has won the last two European Championship tournaments, first with her home nation in 2017 and later with England in 2022.
Euro 2025 will take place in Switzerland between 2 and 27 July 2025, with Iceland and Finland, as well as the hosts and Norway, kicking off the tournament. The knockout rounds will begin on 16 July and the final will take place in Basel on 27 July.
Speaking after the draw, Wiegman likened the difficulty of the group to that of the Nations League, in which England were drawn against Spain, Belgium and Portugal in the 2025 edition.
"I think we have a very interesting, exciting group," she told the FA after the draw. "It's a bit the same as the Nations League groups – it's very tough. You just have to take it as it comes and be ready on 5 July. That's how I approach it.
"I'm confident in these players. As we've seen, we have some very good, younger players coming in and having some playing minutes. Everyone goes to a tournament to win it and so do we. I'm confident in my team and excited about next summer."
