Sarina Wiegman admitted she was unsure how long it will take for Fran Kirby to return to full match sharpness, but added the Chelsea forward is doing 'really well' after playing in her first competitive fixture in nearly four months.

Kirby has not featured since February, and in April Chelsea manager Emma Hayes ruled her out for an indefinite period of time with fatigue. However, she returned to training in the final weeks of the season, and was among the substitutes for Chelsea's FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.

The forward was named in England's 23-player squad for Euro 2022 on Wednesday, and on Thursday she was introduced from the bench during England's 3-0 win over Belgium for the final half an hour for her first outing since 26 February.

"We don't know," Wiegman replied when asked how long it would take for Kirby to return to full match sharpness.

"We're really happy that she's with us and she's going really well. She started training with Chelsea at the end of the season and we take it day by day now and we make a plan, and then we see how she comes off training every day, how she recovers, and so far that's gone really well.

"She's really happy, we're really happy, and we don't say you have to be there at this stage, we just say you're here now, what we're going to do tomorrow and we have a plan in place. We take it day by day and adjust where needed, but we didn't have to adjust yet."

England have two final friendlies before their Euro 2022 campaign gets underway on 6 July, taking on the Netherlands on Friday 24 June at Elland Road, before travelling to Zurich to face Switzerland on Thursday 30 June.
