Sarina Wiegman is unsure if England star Lauren James will be fit for Sunday’s Euro 2025 final against Spain.

The England forward has started every game for the Lionesses this tournament, but was taken off at half-time in the semi-final against Italy and was seen with ice on her ankle.

James’ absence would be a blow to the England manager, who is going for her third consecutive Euros title.

“She is still recovering,” Wiegman said about James’ fitness. “She is doing things on the pitch and we have two more days so we are going to give it a try.

“I don’t know yet [if she will be ready] but that’s what we are going to go for – 23 players available for the game on Sunday.”

Ahead of the tournament, there were question marks around James’ fitness and it was a huge boost for England fans to see James on the team sheet in their first fixture on July 5.

The 23-year-old has scored two goals this tournament, both in England’s 4-0 thrashing of the Netherlands in the second group game.

While Wiegman will want positive news regarding James, she is not short of attacking options, with England’s 15 goals scored this tournament coming from 11 different players.

Keira Walsh, Georgia Stanway, Ella Toone, Lauren Hemp, Alessia Russo, Beth Mead, Aggie Beever-Jones, Lucy Bronze, Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly join James on the long list of players who have netted for England this tournament.
