Norwich City have been difficult to assess this season under Dean Smith as they find themselves in fourth place, six points off the top six.

They have been inconsistent and below par with their performances, struggling to dominate games which is something not many have been able to say about the Canaries in their recent Championship seasons.

Of course the change in manager will impact that as Smith looks to build a side in his style and he’s so far ticking along without pulling up too many trees.

January therefore could be a pivotal month with Norwich yet to really impress both supporters and pundits alike and will need to vastly improve if they are to become promotion contenders.

Reshaping the squad and adding some depth in certain positions could give Smith the necessary tools to push on in the second half of the season with an automatic promotion place not yet out of the question.

Norwich are in a strong position and will be looking to add to their squad, rather than sell with several incomings already linked.

With that in mind, we’ve summarised the key talking points with the transfer window looming.

Jonny Howson?

Yes No

Gabriel Sara

Torino are looking at pursuing a deal for summer signing Gabriel Sara following the 21-year-old slow start to life at Carrow Road.

Having paid a reported fee of £6m, Norwich will certainly be looking to recoup most of that fee should they agree to sell him.

However, the Canaries will put a high price tag on their marquee signing with the Brazilian yet to show exactly what he’s capable of on a consistent basis.

They’re up against Sunderland, West Brom and Watford for his signature and a move is likely to happen in January as a result of him turning down a new deal.

This is likely to prompt Hibs to sell to maximise their value with the Canaries looking to add him to their ranks.

With Smith operating a possession-based system, the 23-year-old certainly fits the bit when it comes to composure on the ball but face competition for the Scottish International.

Cody Drameh

Cody Drameh is another player being linked with a move to Norwich ahead of the January transfer window.

The young defender is currently on the books at Leeds United but it seems as though the Whites would be willing to sanction an exit with Luke Ayling and Rasmus Kristensen ahead of him in the pecking order.

Indeed, he’s not playing much at all for Leeds and naturally wants that to change, so perhaps with Norwich a potential destination.

Lamare Bogarde

It’s clear defenders are high on the shopping list for Smith as he looks to improve his sides consistency.

Lamare Bogarde is the latest defender to be linked with the Aston Villa youngster looking to get first team football away from Villa Park.

The 18 year old could follow in the footsteps of Aaron Ramsey who joined from Villa on loan in the summer.
