Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Turbine Potsdam captain Sara Agrez, with the defender signing a three-year deal with the She Wolves ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Agrez had a further year remaining on her deal with Potsdam, but Wolfsburg triggered a release clause to secure her services.

The Slovenia international is the fourth signing that the She Wolves have made ahead of the 2022/23 season, following the recruitment of Jule Brand, Merle Frohms and Marina Hegering

"VfL Wolfsburg is one of the best clubs in Europe and has the perfect conditions for me to develop personally and athletically," Agrez told Wolfsburg's official club website. “So I believe this is the right step in my career. I want to help the team as best I can to win titles and I'm really looking forward to the new challenge at VfL. I can't wait to give my all for this club from the summer."

Agrez joined Potsdam from ZNK Pomurje in her native Slovenia in 2019 and is the current captain of the German outfit at the age of just 21.

She can operate as a central defender and as a left back, and has been capped 25 times by Slovenia. Her final game for her current side is set to be against her future employees Wolfsburg in the DFB Cup final on 28 May.

The transfer continues Wolfsburg's long-term planning and ability to attract the very best talent in the Frauen-Bundesliga, having completed the signing of highly-rated German teenager Jule Brand from Hoffenheim in February.

"We are very pleased that Sara, a young and capable defender, has decided to join VfL Wolfsburg," added Wolfsburg's sporting director Ralf Kellerman.

"The fact that Sara is already captaining a Bundesliga team at the age of 21 speaks for her leadership qualities and shows that she is willing to take on responsibility. Therefore, she fits perfectly into our requirements profile, both with her sporting and her personal qualities.”
