São Paulo forward Lucas Ferreira is awaiting further assessment after suffering a minor muscle injury, according to Arquibancada Tricolor citing reporting from UOL Esporte’s Eder Traskini. The striker did not feature in Friday’s training match between the first team and the under-20 squad, as club medical staff opted for caution following the complaint.
Ferreira is set to undergo a new evaluation on Monday. With São Paulo scheduled to travel to face Flamengo at Maracanã next Saturday, his availability for that fixture remains uncertain. The club has yet to confirm the full extent of his injury or offer a timetable for his return.
The 25-year-old has been a regular squad member throughout the current season, featuring in 22 matches—ranking him as the squad’s 12th-most used player in 2025. Over 1,241 minutes of action, Ferreira has contributed one goal and one assist. His potential absence comes at a time when the squad is seeking stability under new management and preparing for a demanding stretch of fixtures.
Ferreira’s recent omission from the intra-squad friendly follows a period of consistent involvement, underlining the player’s importance to São Paulo’s forward options. With a medical update expected after Monday’s re-evaluation, manager Hernán Crespo will be balancing available resources as he plans for the team’s upcoming trip to Rio.
