After last season’s dismal display, the expectation was that Manchester United would go all out to support their new manager Erik ten Hag.

But the club initially struggled to get deals over the line and only three players sauntered into Carrington as the new Premier League season got underway.

After United suffered back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Brentford, the club were forced to splurge the cash and they completed record-breaking deals for Casemiro and Antony.

The Brazilian became the joint-second highest buy for the Red Devils with United paying £85.5 million to Ajax for the right-winger’s services.

Due to the nature of the fee involved, the English giants were supposed to pay over the course of five years.

And he started his United career in scintillating fashion, scoring the opening goal on his debut as United romped to a 3-1 win over league leaders Arsenal. He has subsequently started in all of United’s fixtures.

However, his deal with United has now run into trouble in the form of payments set to be made to the Brazil international’s youth club, Sao Paulo.

According to the deal that the Brazilian outfit had signed with Ajax, they were entitled to “20% of the profit the Dutch side made with the move, and are expected to make around €17m with the transaction,” according to Sport Witness.

And the Brazilian club are now demanding that the payment be made immediately.

Sao Paulo demanding money

The Brazilian club have run into trouble as their players are owed their pending image right payments. According to journalist Jorge Nicola, Sao Paulo president Julio Casares had promised that “the debt would be settled with the money from that move.”

According to Nicola, the club are claiming to not have received their share and it was expected to arrive between the end of September and the start of October.

The club president had assured his players that the money would be paid before São Paulo entered the field for their Copa Sudamericana final on the 1st of October against Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle.

This might increase Ten Hag’s worries when it comes to January. United are already refusing to spend in the winter and this payment means the Old Trafford coffers will take a further hit.
