Santos have reached an agreement with Ajax over the transfer of 18-year-old Brazilian youth international midfielder Giovanni.
The Brazilian giants can now receive up to €1m for the youngster.
The player had left Santos after a dispute over the length of his training contract and joined Ajax on a free transfer in March.
Santos received €300,000 in compensation from Ajax at the time of the transfer and now can receive up to an additional €720,000 based on Giovanni’s achievements at Ajax.
Giovanni, who is currently under contract until summer 2024, needs to play 20 games for the Ajax first-team for Santos to receive €360,000 and a further 20 games for the next €360,000.
The money is crucial for Santos as they have been notified by FIFA to pay outstanding debts. They currently owe Club Brugge a €250,000 loan fee for taking on Luan Peres for 18 months.
FIFA have also contacted Santos over their debt to German side Hamburg over the 2017 transfer of Cléber Reis, a €2.5m move that proved to be an enormous bust, with the player spending the majority of the last three years on loan at second-division sides.
Santos are working on a deal with Hamburg in order to settle the debt this month.
