“We are satisfied with the effort we have made, but of course we are not satisfied that we did not get the title,” he said.

“It was a great opportunity to take the title home to the fans, but I am proud of the effort we made to reach the final.

“Monterrey wins it, we congratulate them and we have to get on our feet very quickly because the league continues.”

Additionally, the 45-year-old manager admitted Monterrey had the better of América in the first half which lead to Rogelio Funes Mori scoring the winner.

“It was difficult for us at the beginning of the game, they were much better at the beginning of the game where we could not take the ball from them,” he said.

“We could not respond there and we suffered the goal. They are a team with a lot of hierarchy, a lot of experience and they knew how to handle the game very well.

“We fought the game until the end, we had a play in which we almost tied, but what can I tell you.”

Looking ahead in the Calendar, América will now travel to Mexico City for a clash with Cruz Azul on Sunday.
