Despite ruling out making a move for Arturo Vidal this summer, América chairman Santiago Baños has hinted that the Eagles could still make a big signing.
So far, América have signed Fernando Madrigal, Salvador Reyes, and Miguel Layún – players that could improve the club but are far below the quality that América supporters have demanded.
However, a high-calibre player could still come to Mexico City, as long as Baños and company know exactly what the player will add to the side.
“When it is required and there is someone who fits exactly with what we need, an important investment can be made,” Baños told TUDN.
“If it is possible to give someone with those possibilities who can come to contribute what we need, a contract of that type will be given out.”
With Tigres and Monterrey both making huge splashes in the transfer market this summer, it’s widely expected that the Eagles will do something to catch up over the next few transfer windows.
