As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Sandro Wagner is on the verge of becoming one of Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant coaches for the Germany national team.
As the former Bayern Munich head coach looks set to put pen to paper with Die Mannschaft, the process of sourcing his new assistant coaches has begun. The 36-year-old, along with Rudi Völler, have been pushing for Wagner to join the roaster.
The former Bayern striker was manager for SpVgg Unterhaching between 2021-2023, where he helped them gain promotion to the 3. Liga. Since last summer, the 35-year-old has been coaching Germany U20s.
However, it’s now clear that Wagner will join Nagelsmann as they begin to prepare for Euro 2024 next summer.
At 36 and 35, respectively, Nagelsmann and Wagner will be one of the youngest coaches at the championships next year.
There has been no final decision on the possibility of also bringing in former Bayer Leverkusen coach Hannes Wolf (42) to the team.
