There are a few players who may be seeking an exit from St Andrew's to win more game time.
Birmingham City packed their squad full of quality during the summer transfer window, with Jay Stansfield standing out as their most impressive addition.
A rebuilding job at St. Andrew's was necessary, because plenty of players have left Blues since the end of last season, and it felt like a fresh start was needed following their relegation to League One.
In fairness to Chris Davies and his team, they are doing well in their quest to secure a Championship return at the first time of asking.
They may have spent a decent amount of money during the previous window, but the Midlands outfit have still done very well irrespective of the money spent - considering their squad is fairly new.
Some players, however, haven't played as much football as they would have wanted during the 2024/25 campaign thus far.
Looking at the present and near future, we list four players who will surely be keen to seal a move away from the Midlands outfit during the January transfer window.
Dion Sanderson's time at Blues has gone downhill, with the defender rarely featuring this term and being sent off in an EFL Cup game against Charlton Athletic.
Unfortunately for him, Sanderson has been kept out of the starting lineup by the likes of Ben Davies, Krystian Bielik and Cristoph Klarer, and has even spent time out of the matchday squad this term.
Cup competitions may have given him the opportunity to perform, but he will want game time in the league as well and a loan or permanent exit could be on the horizon for him in January.
For the sake of both parties, it would probably be good for him to seal a permanent move away.
This would help to raise funds for Blues - and would give the central defender an opportunity to make a fresh start in his career.
Sitting on the sidelines won't help him to fulfil his potential.
Right-back Josh Williams will probably have a tough job winning much game time during the second half of the season.
Not only can Ethan Laird and Taylor Gardner-Hickman play there, as well as Alfons Sampsted when he's fit, but Bielik can fill in as a full-back too, having done so away at Crawley Town.
Spending time at Gateshead this season, it remains to be seen where he will end up next.
But it feels inevitable that he will have to take a step or two down the English football pyramid to get himself back on track - a January exit will allow him to kickstart his career as quickly as possible.
Brandon Khela is only 19, so he could potentially spend the rest of the season with Steve Spooner's under-21's side.
But having played for the first team in numerous competitions this term, the teenager will be hungry to secure more game time under his belt, and Birmingham may be willing to send him out on loan if they feel that would aid his development.
It remains to be seen what level he would play at, but the chance to feature against older players every week between now and the end of the season would be an excellent opportunity for him.
