The San Jose Earthquakes have completed the signing of Real Salt Lake striker Chicho Arango, the club announced Saturday morning.
The Quakes will dole out a total of $1.4 million in allocation money over the next two years, plus an international roster slot for the forward.
Arango is widely regarded as one of Major League Soccer's top strikers, scoring 53 goals in 92 games across stints with LAFC and Real Salt Lake.
The 29-year-old was playing at an MVP caliber level in the opening months of the 2024 campaign before a suspension for undisclosed reasons derailed his season.
Nonetheless, it's a major coup for San Jose as they look to rebuild under new bench-boss Bruce Arena.
“We’re pleased to add one of Major League Soccer’s top goalscorers in Chicho Arango,” Arena said. “With his ability to score and set up his teammates for goals, he'll offer another good option to our attack.”
