“Not only because of the welcome from the coach, who I already knew, but also from all the players. There is a great group, an atmosphere has been created, a mixture of young and old and I’m very grateful to everyone for the welcome”.

On why he chose Valencia

“Thanks to the coach. He did a lot for me to be here, I also did everything in my power. The complicity of having worked together makes me feel more comfortable now,” he said.

On Gattuso

The 27-year-old was asked about Gattuso’s famous slaps, to which the player from Malaga replied: “I hope he never gives you one! You’ve seen the intensity with which he lives football, sometimes his show of affection is to give you a slap. We’re used to it.”

Castillejo coincided with the Italian coach at Milan, where he maintained a good relationship: “In the first year when I was at Milan he made things very easy for me, here you can see how he is with all the team-mates, he threatens us and hits us all,” he continued.
