Former Inter player Antonio Candreva has reflected on what he has described as ‘four beautiful years’ at Inter following his recent departure from the club.

Candreva was one of the then new owners Suning’s first signings in the Summer of 2016 as he joined from fellow Serie A side Lazio.

During the recently concluded Summer transfer window, the Italian, who joined the club as a winger but was utilised as a wing-back last season, left the club for Sampdoria in a loan with obligation to buy deal.

“I had four beautiful years there. The only regret I have is that in my first year, with so many corporate and technical changes, it did not allow us to achieve the goals that the club deserved.

“I gave my all for the Nerazzurri cause,” Candreva explained in an interview with Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, which appeared in today’s print edition.

In his four years with Inter, 32-year-old Candreva, whose Inter contract was set to expire at the end of this season, had he stayed, represented the club on 151 separate occasions.

The 54 time Italian national team representative scored 18 goals and provided a total of 31 assists for his teammates.
