Sampdoria forward Fabio Quagliarella has said that the match against Inter on Sunday is very serious and the team cannot make a fool of themselves, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the veteran Italian forward explained that everyone will be watching his team play against Inter at San Siro due to the implication of the title race.
“We know that everyone will be watching us, those in Milan and Reggio Emilia will be the two most watched matches, San Siro will be packed.”
He then added that Sampdoria, who have had their Serie A status assured already, cannot make a fool of themselves. Assumedly he means they cannot relax and risk being beaten heavily by an Inter team that has to win.
“We will certainly play a very serious game, we can’t afford to make a fool of ourselves. We know we are challenging a great team, we know Inter’s strength, but we saw against Fiorentina what it means to play with or without pressure on us. The head rules, we are and will be mentally free.”
Inter will become Serie A champions on Sunday if they can beat Sampdoria and if AC Milan are beaten at the Mapei Stadium by Sassuolo. Any other outcome will see the Rossoneri snatch the crown away from their city rivals.
