Sampdoria coach Dejan Stankovic believes that his team achieved something special in their draw against Inter, particularly in light of the Nerazzurri’s quality.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInter1908, the Blucerchiati coach highlighted the fact that his team had dug out a point against such formidable opposition as evidence that they are growing in quality.

Stankovic’s team have not had a great few weeks, as they have only found themselves further entrenched in the relegation zone in the Serie A table thanks to some disappointing results, often coming through late drama.

However, things may have taken a positive turn with Monday’s match against Inter, in which the Ligurians did not take three points but did manage to keep the Nerazzurri off the scoresheet.

From Stankovic’s perspective, this was not an easy result or something to be taken for granted, and he expects that it can be a positive to carry forward with them.

“It was something we really needed,” he said, “it was a point at home against a team who are really strong, and we managed to live with them.”
