Sam Kerr has been named the 2021/22 WSL Player of the Season, completing a clean sweep of awards for Chelsea after Emma Hayes was named Manager of the Season.

Kerr netted 20 goals in 20 appearances to fire Chelsea to their third consecutive WSL title, scooping the Golden Boot for the second successive season.

The Australian striker scored two stunning solo goals on the final day of the season as Chelsea came from 2-1 down against Manchester United to win 4-2 and pip rivals Arsenal to the league title by a single point.

Kerr also netted a last gasp winner against Aston Villa and a pair of crucial headers against Tottenham during the title run in.

"The best goals for me are the ones that mean the most," Kerr said after Chelsea lifted the WSL title. "Believe it or not, the Villa goal to me is more important.

"I obviously love that they [the volleys against Manchester United] were amazing but I don't care if I tap it in at the back post or if it's the last minute. I'm not known for my worldie goals but the thing I'm known for is getting it done when it matters."

Despite only joining Chelsea in January 2020, Kerr is already the joint ninth highest scorer in WSL history, finding the net 42 times in just 46 league appearances.

Chelsea signed off the season with a 3-2 victory over Manchester City at Wembley in the FA Cup final, with Kerr on the scoresheet twice as the Blues completed a domestic double.
