Highly-rated Red Bull Salzburg youngster Oscar Gloukh has admitted that he "dreams" of playing for Real Madrid despite recent interest from Barcelona.

The 19-year-old has been considered one of the best young players in the world since bursting onto the scene at Maccabi Tel Aviv during the 2021/22 season. After thoroughly impressing with his creative flair in the Israeli Premier League, Gloukh earned himself his maiden appearances for his national team and a £6m move to Austrian outfit Salzburg in January.

The Israel international has become a key player for Salzburg over the course of the last 10 months, bagging 10 goal contributions across all competitions, including a first ever UEFA Champions League goal in the club's recent shock 2-0 win over Benfica.

Prior to his move to Salzburg, Gloukh was linked with a number of top clubs across Europe and, speaking to Forbes Israel, the attacking midfielder confirmed that Barcelona had made a move to sign him from Maccabi Tel Aviv.

"Barcelona remembered me when we already had everything closed with Salzburg," Gloukh said about why a move failed to materialise.

Despite said interest from Barca, Gloukh was keen to state his preference to join their Clasico rivals Real Madrid at some point in the future.

"I have been a Madrid fan since I can remember. My biggest dream is to play at the Bernabeu with the Real shirt. It would be the pinnacle for me," he added.

Barcelona recently missed out on a move for another talented young playmaker due to the player preferring to join Real Madrid. The Catalan club had made a similar bid of around £17m to sign Arda Guler from Fenerbahce, but the player ultimately chose to join Madrid instead.

To date, Guler's move to the Santiago Bernabeu hasn't exactly gone to plan however, as an injury suffered in pre-season has seen the 18-year-old miss the first eight La Liga games of 2023/24.
