Salvador Reyes has said hearing the news he was joining América gave him goosebumps.
The 23-year-old, who was unveiled by Las Águilas on Wednesday, arrives from Puebla to compete with Luis Fuentes for the left-back position.
Recalling the moment his agent revealed that he was linking up with Santiago Solari’s side, Reyes told the clubs’ YouTube channel: “Even my skin turned sour. I was very happy. It’s an unbeatable feeling, the moment is unique.”
Reyes’ family are massive Azulcrema fans, so his move to the Estadio Azteca was an emotional occasion for his kin as well.
“My family is very happy. I gave them the news. I got them together for a family meal, and they still didn’t know anything and when I told them I was a new América player, even tears came out there.
“They are very happy, and I am even happier for take advantage of this great challenge.”
The defender was an ever-present for Los Camoteros as they reached the semi-finals of Guard1anes 2021 before losing 3-1 on aggregate to Santos Laguna.
