Although Bayern Munich celebrated their 10th league title in a row and thus reached a historic milestone in European football, nobody in Munich is really happy with how the season has gone.
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is still unhappy with the early elimination from the UEFA Champions League.
Being invited at „SPORT1 Doppelpass“, the 45-year-old drew a brief summary and made no secret of the fact that he had hoped for more from this season: „We lost to Villarreal in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. We should have qualified. And we were eliminated early in the DFB Pokal. I would give us a 3 (editor note: in Germany, note 1 is the highest, 6 the lowest). I’m not happy with the season.“
According to Salihamidzic, the club has still achieved the minimum goal by winning the league: “We have become champions again. It’s the most honest title,“ he said.
The Bosnian expects things to be much more exciting in the Bundesliga next season. In Salihamidzic’s view, RB Leipzig in particular will again be a title candidate: „They will play with us for the title. The coach turned it around in the second half of the season and he is doing a very good job. The Pokal win is deserved.”
