William Saliba has shared what Mikel Arteta said to them after the defeat to Everton, and vowed to bounce back against Brentford.

Arsenal suffered a disappointing defeat to Everton at the weekend, just their second loss of the Premier League season, a particular disappointment given the host’s position towards the bottom of the table.

Though the loss was somewhat mitigated by Manchester City’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur the following day, the mood in the immediate aftermath of the Everton defeat was not positive.

Speaking after the game, William Saliba shared what Mikel Arteta had said to them in the dressing room.

“He said that what was missing today was determination,” Saliba revealed (translated by @ArsenalBarclays).

“On the pitch, Everton wanted it more than us, they were more hungry to win. We could have conceded even more. We are even happy to have conceded only one goal.

“We must take this match as an example, we know it’s not over and there are still a lot of matches to play and we can already bounce back quickly at home next week.”

Arsenal have generally dealt with setbacks very well this season.

They followed the loss to Manchester United with a win over Zurich, the loss to PSV with a 5-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, and the loss to Brighton with a win over Wolves.

This is the first time the Gunners have lost two in a row, albeit in two different competitions.

They now need to break out of the mini-slump with a win over Brentford this weekend.
