Serie A side Salernitana are set to sign former Bayern Munich and Lyon defender Jerome Boateng.

Boateng has been a free agent since he departed Lyon in the summer of 2023 after a two-year-long stint at the French club. Salernitana have been swirling around the German for some days now and it seems as if the move will go through.

Il Mattino report that Boateng will join Salernitana this month, with the transfer deadline day approaching. Along with the agent, the defender met the club’s sporting director Walter Sabatini at his house and during the meeting, the parties defined the last few details of the contract and he will earn half a million till the end of the season.

He is now waiting for the green light for the completion of the move and he will arrive in Salerno later today. His medical will take place tomorrow, but Salernitana are oriented towards filing his contract on the 2nd of February.

The club believe that Boateng has the profile that they want to survive relegation, as the defender reunites with former Bayern teammate Franck Ribery.
