Salernitana are interested in the possibility of hiring Filippo Inzaghi as their manager, with Paulo Sousa’s position now very uncertain.
Sousa had made sure that Salernitana survived relegation last season, but they now find themselves in the bottom two this season and they are one of the three teams in the division to not win a single game so far in the campaign, apart from Cagliari and Udinese.
Il Mattino (via TMW) state that there is very little chance that Sousa stays at Salernitana and yesterday, club president Danilo Iervolino met Filippo Inzaghi. The contact was quite positive and Inzaghi appreciates the interest from the Salerno based side to a point where he is actually excited about managing the club.
Inzaghi is currently Salernitana’s first choice for the role and the decision was made after a lot of thought. A final call about everything will be made today, but the expectation is that Sousa will leave and Inzaghi will join.
The older Inzaghi had most recently managed Reggina in Serie B but the club went into administration and are now in Serie D, with Inzaghi having departed at the end of last season.
