Roma kicked-off season two under Jose Mourinho in dramatic fashion thanks to striking the post three times in their 1-0 victory over Salernitana.

The Giallorossi secured all three points in Salerno thanks to a 33rd minute goal from distance courtesy of Bryan Cristante.

Making his full debut, marquee summer signing Paulo Dybala nearly found the back of the net on two occasions but was denied by the post. Starting in attack with Nicolo Zaniolo and Tammy Abraham, the Argentine got started early and narrowly missed scoring from a free kick just twenty minutes into the affair.

After Cristante put the Giallorossi in the lead, Dybala had a chance to add just moments before halftime but his shot struck the right post.

He and Tammy Abraham both had opportunities to extend the capital club’s lead in the second half but couldn’t convert.

Dybala nearly added an assist in the final seconds of the affair when he laid the ball off for fellow new arrival Georginio Wijnaldum, whose goal was ruled out due to offsides.

Despite the narrow lead throughout the clash, Salernitana barely threatened the Giallorossi defence, ending the match with an expected goals (xG) of 0.51.
