The 2021/22 Premier League season has been all about Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool's Egyptian King has been on fire in the English top-flight thus far, netting 10 goals and contributing five assists in nine appearances.

Salah also grabbed a hat-trick last Sunday at the home of his team's bitter rivals, Manchester United.

The 29-year-old was unplayable at Old Trafford, a performance that resulted in most coming to the conclusion that he is indeed the best player on the planet right now.

Salah's magnificent treble in the 5-0 thumping of United also saw him seriously improve his goals-per-game ratio for 2021.

The fleet-footed winger is now averaging 0.75 goals-per-game for both club and country this year, the fifth-best record among players operating in Europe's top five leagues.

Salah's hat-trick against United has seen him move ahead of both Ronaldo and Mbappe, who failed to score in their most recent outings.

However, Liverpool's main man is not going to come anywhere close to matching Lewandowski's incredible prolificacy for Bayern and Poland in 2021.

The world-class striker is averaging well over a goal-per-game and he already has 17 to his name in just 13 appearances at club level this season.

Is it really any wonder that a number of football lovers think Lewandowski is a deserving winner of the 2021 Ballon d'Or?
