Giovanni van Bronckhorst was expected to rest an array of first-team names this afternoon following their midweek masterclass in the Europa League. Jon McLaughlin: 7

Was handed a start ahead of Allan McGregor. Was hardly tested between the sticks and had little trouble while registering the clean sheet.

James Tavernier: 8

The super skipper delivered another stellar performance with relentless attacking involvement from the right-hand flank. Exhibited his expertise by converting the spot-kick early into the second half. Was replaced by Adam Devine minutes after breaking the deadlock.

Connor Goldson: 7.5

Dominated the duels, made timely recoveries and played plenty of passes to build the game up from deep defence.

Leon King: 7.5

The teenage academy prodigy was handed a start alongside Goldson in the heart of the backline. Made some crucial interceptions, kept his concentration and showcased his potential to secure a first-team role in the long run.

Borna Barisic: 7

Although his crosses were not accurate on all occasions, the Croatian left fullback was persistent with his overlapping runs and link-up play to create chances from the flank. Made way for Charlie McCann midway through the second half.

Steven Davis: 7.5

The veteran midfielder lacked the pace at times, but his game-reading and vision helped him pull the strings as a deep-lying playmaker. Kept on creating chances one after another, whereas his smart movements allowed Rangers to dominate possession.

James Sands: 7.5

Lost an array of ground duels, but his work rate and passing excellence worked splendidly in terms of maintaining the mobility in the middle of the park.
