England, France, Ireland and Wales were all in Euro 2024 qualifying action on Monday night.

England rack up a magnificent seven

Bukayo Saka hit a sensational hat-trick as England ran riot against North Macedonia to keep up their perfect qualifying record.

Harry Kane broke the deadlock midway through the first half, guiding home Luke Shaw’s cut-back before Saka bagged his first when he lashed in at the near-post after being found by Kyle Walker.

Marcus Rashford rounded off a successful first half for Gareth Southgate’s side when he poked in from six yards out just before the break.

The moment of the match came at the start of the second half when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s long ball up-field was brought down by Saka before he unleashing a a stunning half-volley which rifled into the top corner.

The Arsenal made completed his first ever career hat-trick moments later, running on to Kane’s through ball before sliding the ball into the bottom corner.

Kalvin Phillips came off the bench to tap in his first ever international goal before Kane rounded off a perfect night from the penalty spot with his 50th goal as England captain – making it four wins from four games for the Three Lions.

Mbappé makes history in France win

Kylian Mbappé scored a record-breaking 54th goal of the season to help France see off Greece.

Les Bleus had been frustrated by the visitors for large parts of the opening 45 minutes of their latest Group B encounter.

But the hosts belatedly found themselves off the mark after the interval after Konstantinos Mavropanos was sent off for fouling Antoine Griezmann.

Mbappé put the two-time world champions ahead from the penalty spot but only after retaking his initial missed kick for encroachment.

Wales’ woes continue in Greece

Wales’ Euro 2024 qualification bid is teetering on the brink after a 2-0 defeat in Turkey.

Their best hopes were almost dashed early on when Chris Mepham turned Mehmet Çelik’s cross into his own net.

The Bournemouth centre-back was offered a reprieve by a VAR check which chalked off Turkey’s opener for offside in the build-up.

Danny Ward kept his country in the encounter by denying Hakan Çalhanoğlu from the penalty spot with a smart save.

But the Dragons’ resistance eventually wilted when Umut Nayir rose to meet Barış Yılmaz’s cross from the right to break the deadlock.

Matters worsened in the final 10 minutes as Arda Güler doubled Turkey’s lead with a stunning long-range effort.

Ireland hand reprieve to under-fire Kenny

The Republic of Ireland handed under-fire manager Steven Kenny a reprieve by returning to winning ways.

Steven Kenny’s side started positively at the Aviva Stadium, enjoying a good spell of build-up during the early stages.

But the Boys in Green hit their stride after the interval, first through Mikey Johnston bundling home from a set piece.

Evan Ferguson helped further ease the pressure on an Kenny by converting James McClean’s cross from the left just seven minutes later.

Victory was gift-wrapped in added time by another McClean assist, this time setting up Adam Idah for a downward header.

Elsewhere
