Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka scored the opening goal of Sunday’s game against Liverpool, and the Gunners were 2-1 up at the half-time interval.

But after a couple of defensive injuries in the second half, Liverpool took advantage to level the game through Mohamed Salah in the 81st minute. The game finished 2-2, and both teams had to settle for a point.

Speaking afterwards, Saka said Arsenal were disappointed by the result, and they believe they should have done better.

“We’re disappointed,” Saka said. “I feel like we didn’t show our best selves for 90 minutes and it cost us in the end. We believe we should have won it.

“For sure, there’s definitely some positives – Liverpool are a top team, credit to them. But the overall feeling is that we didn’t show our best selves for the whole game, especially more in the second half, and it cost us in the end.”

Saka was making his return from injury on the day, and he admitted he was at least pleased to be back.

“I hate to miss games, so I was buzzing to be back,” Saka added. “I had this game in mind to come back for and I was feeling good out there, and I was happy to get an early goal.”

It was a shame the winger wasn’t quite ready to complete the full 90 minutes, as he was certainly having a major impact on the game before he started to tire in the second half.

The hope now is that he’ll be ready to show his best form in Arsenal’s four upcoming away games in a row.
