Foot Mercato are reporting that AS Saint-Étienne have failed in a bid to sign Stade Brestois’ Irvin Cardona (25), meaning the Ligue 2 side continue in their search to recruit a striker.
Cardona doesn’t feature in Brest’s plans going forward, and the striker’s contract expires at the end of the season. However, he will not be bouncing back at Ligue 2 strugglers Saint-Étienne, as the different actors in the deal failed to find an agreement for his transfer.
Having joined Brest from AS Monaco back in 2019, the Frenchman has scored 19 goals in 106 appearances. Brest are still looking to find a solution for Cardona, although he will seemingly not be joining Les Verts.
Saint-Étienne meanwhile, continue their search for offensive reinforcements. After suffering relegation from Ligue 1 last season, the club are in real danger of a second successive relegation. The club are bottom of Ligue 2 and four points away from 19th-placed side Niort.
