An American clothing company has begun to sell Saint-Étienne branded clothing after actor Timothée Chalamet expressed his love for football club AS Saint-Étienne.

The American-French Hollywood star on the press tour for his latest film Dune 2 was seen wearing a Saint-Étienne scarf on French TV and even calling on Ligue 2 to speed up the amount of time it takes for them to upload game highlights onto YouTube.

Chalamet admitted on Quotidien that he became a fan of the team when he was a child visiting his family in the south of France and still follows the club’s progress from afar.

His affection for the club has not gone unnoticed and Forever 21 has begun selling clothing with the name of the city emblazoned on it to capitalise on the recent publicity. A move that has left the city equal parts bemused and bewildered, especially since Forever 21 went with the colours red and blue over the team’s famous green and white.
