Alexis Saelemaekers suffered a rather serious injury last night and will not be back in Red and Black before 2023.

Milan won the game against Empoli last night in what was one of the craziest matches in recent years, as they suffered an equalizer in the 91′ minute, but then Fodé Ballo-Touré (94′) and Rafael Leão (97′) scored to make it 3-1 in the end (Ante Rebić, 80′, scored before).

However, they also suffered 3 injuries last night. While the conditions of Simon Kjær and Davide Calabria will be evaluated tomorrow (the condition of the right-back is believed to be serious), Saelemaekers had his tests today.

As reported by Milannews.it today, the exams this morning revealed a partial tear in the medial collateral ligament of Alexis’ left knee. As a result, the player is expected to miss at least 8 weeks of actions, which means he won’t play for Milan again in this calendar year.

This is obviously a huge blow for Stefano Pioli, who also lost Junior Messias to injury the night before the Empoli game. With Chelsea and Juventus coming up, Pioli will have to find new solutions.
