Sadio Mane has officially left Liverpool for Bayern Munich in a £35 million deal.

After weeks of speculation after Liverpool’s Champions League final loss to Real Madrid, the transfer has finally been confirmed by both clubs.

Mane scored 120 goals, registered 38 assists and won the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and Carabao Cup during six incredible seasons.

In an emotional interview, Mane admitted that it’s “strange” that he’s no longer at Anfield.

“Obviously it is strange – really, really strange – to no longer be a Liverpool player after six years spent at Anfield,” he told the club’s official website.

“But of course, I had a great time, an unbelievable time, and since my first day I really, really enjoyed training, playing, at Anfield especially and in front of these amazing supporters.”

He will go down in the club’s history.

But how many football fans predicted Mane would be a success at Liverpool?

The Senegalese forward was one of Jurgen Klopp’s first signings and has been instrumental in transforming the club from serial underperformers to one of the best clubs in the world.

But it’s fair to say the decision to sign him for around £34 million in 2016 was questioned heavily.

Looking back, it looks like an absolute bargain. It’s hard to believe there were fans out there who thought it was a lot of money wasted.

But if you don’t believe us, just check out some of the replies to Sky Sports’ tweet after announcing a fee had been agreed between Liverpool and Southampton.

The replies are full of replies questioning the signing. The thread really is quite incredible looking back six years on…

While Mane may have left the Reds, he insists he’s will now be the club’s biggest fan despite moving to Bayern Munich.

“Every one of my games in Munich I will come to the dressing room and I will watch Liverpool, for sure, because I am going to be Liverpool’s No.1 fan forever,” he added. “I just want to say good luck to them and I have an eye on them. And for sure they will be even better because I know the boys: great players, great talent, great maturity and attitude, so of course, Liverpool will always stay even better, for sure.”
