Sadio Mane is targeting more silverware after scoring on his competitive debut for Bayern Munich in their Super Cup success over RB Leipzig on Saturday.

Bayern ran out 5-3 winners in the traditional curtain raiser, with Mane taking very little time to open his account for the Bundesliga champions following his £35m move from Liverpool earlier this summer.

After Jamal Musiala had opened the scoring at the Red Bull Arena, Mane was presented with an opportunity he simply could not miss on the half-hour mark.

Serge Gnabry was played through in the left channel and squared the ball to the former Liverpool man, who had been left in acres of space by some questionable Leipzig defending. The 30-year-old then had all the time in the world to pick his spot and smash a finish into the back of the net from six yards out.

Defender Benjamin Pavard made in 3-0 before half-time, and although Leipzig managed to haul themselves back into the game, further strikes from Gnabry and Leroy Sane put the game beyond doubt.

Speaking after the match and lifting the Super Cup, Mane revealed he was already living the 'dream' in Munich and is targeting further silverware.

I’m very happy to have scored my first goal for Bayern," he said. "This is my dream. I’m looking forward to more titles.

“I’m really happy to be at this great club. It’s an honour and I’m very happy. I’m looking forward to the future. We have to get even better, then we can win a lot of titles.”

Manager Julian Nagelsmann was impressed with what he saw from his new signing, saying after the game: “It was a very good performance from him.

“He is a humble and grounded player. He is extremely good for us - in the dressing room too. He has outstanding qualities and is an outstanding guy.”
