The new Serie A season starts this evening, with the Rossoneri taking on Udinese at Stadio San Siro (18:30 CEST).

Sacchi, who is considered one of the best coaches in the history of football and of Milan in particular, spoke to Saturday’s edition La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Andrea Schianchi ahead of the new season.

“Milan are favorites because they won the last campaign and because they are playing well. If they continue on this path, and if they improve in pressing their opponents high, the boys of Pioli can have another great season. The important thing is that they avoid the success syndrome, which unfortunately is always around the corner. Feet on the ground and maximum commitment. They must watch out for Juventus and Inter, though. Juve, at least in Italy, is always very dangerous and they’ve strengthened themselves with Di Maria, Bremer, Kostić and Pogba. And Inter, perhaps somewhat penalized by a rather critical financial situation, have great experience and talented players. Finally, to harass Milan, I would also put Roma.

“Roma could be the real surprise. Not only because of the arrival of Dybala, who is an important player, but because Mourinho is doing a great job. He is a very good communicator, he knows how to many the environment that is Roma’s weak point because they are easy to get enthusiastic and depressed. Mourinho got into the players’ heads and I think he will affect them even more. And then, among the possible surprises, watch out for Gasperini’s Atalanta, which do not have European games this season.

“I am very curious to see Osimhen at work. He has great potential, in my opinion not yet all expressed. A year of Spalletti’s lessons, both on a technical and behavioral level, should have served him well to improve and get closer to being that leader Napoli needs. Another element that I will follow closely is Dybala: I expect a complete rebirth with Mourinho.”
