Ryan Jack is devasted at not being a Rangers player any more | OneFootball

If ever an ex-Rangers player looked absolutely gutted to have left the club, it’s Ryan Jack.

Cutting a forlorn figure at Hampden v Kyiv giving the BBC an interview, the former Ibrox favourite looked pretty dejected at being a free agent for the first time in his career, and having no apparent club to go to.

For those unfair and cruel Rangers fans who decided to mock his reasons for being downtrodden (losing his free medical and £20,000 for the privilege) it’s worth noting that no footballer EVER wants to be injured.

It’s actually horrendous that some fans would think a professional footballer, especially a boyhood Rangers fan like Jack, would thrive on being injured and being paid for it.

He also only received a reported high point at Ibrox of around £12,000, before his final season was a modest £8,000. More than Joe Punter, true, but still nowhere NEAR a top earner at the club, so let’s not revise history and turn him into a parasite.

Few wanted to play for our club more than Jacko, and he’s devastated not to be here any more.

We still reluctantly agree with him being freed – he just couldn’t remain fit enough to justify a new contract – pay for play is, as far as we know, illegal in football. This is not a credit top up phone where you pay as you use.

But boy does he look absolutely depressed not just to not be at Ibrox these days, but to be out of football for the time being.

He’s confirmed he’s training on his own, but effectively revealed that no useful offers have come his way at all. The problem for the lad is his injury history is dire, and he’s going to struggle to find a gig at a good level at all with his general injury record.

Jack wants back into football, but he hinted at the frustration that he’s ready, and that the season has started over the most of Europe, but he remains jobless.

He’s not going hungry any time soon, true, he has cash, football pays stunningly well and he made about £2.5M in wages alone in the 7 years he was at Ibrox. Not bad.

But money doesn’t buy happiness and Jack is currently doing the media rounds with the BBC, with podcasts, anything to keep him in the public eye and try to get him a new gig with a new club.

We really hope he finds something.

He might not be quite the player he was, but he’s the reason we won the only title we did since 2011.

He deserves better than just being on YouTube videos.
