Ipswich Town exited the Papa John’s Trophy last night when they lost on penalties to Arsenal U21s.
Kayden Jackson netted twice in the first half to fire the hosts into a commanding and deserved 2-0 lead, before a Kane Vincent-Young own goal and a Folarin Balogun equaliser just three minutes later confined the Tractor Boys to a draw in normal time.
Given the nature of the competition, the game went straight to penalties after 90 minutes, with Arsenal edging the contest 4-3.
Whilst the overriding feeling was one of disappointment at the final whistle, Ipswich will now put their focus back into the league as they continue their pursuit of securing promotion back to the Championship.
Paul Cook’s side started the campaign by accumulating a mere three points from their opening six games, before picking up 17 points from their next eight.
The Tractor Boys have since embarked on some patchy form, picking up seven points from their last 6, with Ipswich now seven points from the much-desired play-off positions.
Ipswich now have the distraction of the Papa John’s Trophy out of the way, and can focus their minds on league football.
Here, we take look at how Ipswich fans have reacted to Paul Cook following their exit from the cup…
