Following the departure of club legend Toby Alderweireld, The Great Old are looking at Serbian international Matija Nastasic as a potential replacement. Nieuwsblad reports that Antwerp are looking to strengthen their defence if they are to build on their 5th placed finish last season. The 34-year-old target is currently a free agent, having played at Leganes in Spain for the past year.
Whilst he is best known for his spell at Manchester City between 2012 and 2015, he also has serious pedigree across Europe. Throughout his career, he has also played for Fiorentina, Schalke and Mallorca. At an international level, he has made 34 caps for the Serbian national team spanning across 12 years.
Last season, his spell at Leganes ended in relegation, finishing in 18th place, just one point from safety. His only goal of the campaign was in the impressive 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in January. However, next season he could be at De Bousil helping Antwerp maintain another European push in the Juliper Pro League.
