Manchester United legend Roy Keane was unimpressed with Andre Onana’s time-wasting during the FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry City on Sunday.

The Red Devils were firm favourites to beat the Championship outfit at Wembley Stadium and they raced into a comfortable 3-0 lead in the 58th minute.

It looked like a routine win for the Mancunian giants, but the Sky Blues scripted a tremendous comeback with three goals in the final 20 minutes.

United eventually progressed to the final via a penalty shoot-out after a nervy extra-time period. Coventry were denied a dramatic winner due to a marginal offside.

Speaking after the result, Keane said that he does not see characters in the squad and added that he almost dislikes the players in the current first team.

The legendary midfielder also mentioned that he is seeing people with bad habits and was unhappy with Onana. The €40 million-rated star started time-wasting at 3-0.

He told ITV Sport (via Sky Sports): “Maguire got interviewed after the game and said, ‘we showed great character’. I don’t see character in this group of players – I really don’t. I’m getting to the stage where I’m almost disliking them.

“The quality they have are clear but when they have a team where they want them and the game won, they just take the foot off the gas.

“I’m waiting for leadership. I’m seeing people with bad habits – the goalkeeper wasting time when you are 3-0 up. Just get on with the game, flex your muscles when you’ve got the game won.

“All of a sudden, they take a step back. Show some courage. It’s as if they are frightened to go and win the game. Huge problems for Manchester United going forward.”

Onana’s time-wasting tactics may have backfired for United, but the Cameroonian made amends in the shoot-out, saving the third spot kick from Callum O’Hare.

His shenanigans before Coventry’s fourth penalty saw him booked, but it paid off as midfielder Ben Sheaf riffled his effort well over the crossbar.

Despite receiving yellow cards in normal time and the penalty shoot-out, Onana won’t be suspended for the FA Cup final against Manchester City next month.
