According to Fabrice Hawkins, former England manager Roy Hodgson attended the Nice training session this morning, which was most importantly visited by new boss Lucien Favre.

The 74-year-old recently completed his latest Premier League stint with Watford, whom he was unable to save from relegation. Hodgson is likely to have had some common ground with Swiss boss Lucien Favre, having managed the Swiss international team between 1992 and 1996, taking the nation to their first World Cup in nearly 28 years for the 1994 edition in the United States of America.

The two managers have also overlapped in the Swiss top flight. Having managed the Zurich side, Grasshoppers, for the 1999/2000 season, the Englishman played against Favre’s newly promoted Yverdon Sport four times, with one game ending 4-4.

Having managed his 20th club in Crystal Palace, the veteran manager had intended to take a step back from football, and following his spell at Watford, is unlikely to return to management.
