Nicolò Rovella’s transfer from Juventus to Lazio has been confirmed, with the 23-year-old midfielder joining the Rome club for a fee of €17 million. The deal, agreed from July 1, 2025, ties Rovella to Lazio until June 2028 with a €50 million buyout clause reported in his contract.
Rovella arrives after a season where he featured in 33 Serie A matches, contributing three assists and registering a pass accuracy rate of 92 percent. In a competitive midfield sector, he distinguished himself with reliable ball retention and an 80 percent success rate in defensive actions. On the discipline front, his campaign saw him pick up 13 yellow cards, but he avoided any red cards, averaging 1.55 fouls per 90 minutes.
The midfielder, born in Segrate—a suburb east of Milan—has seen his stock rise steadily since his early days. Now aged 23, he's established himself as a right-footed option at the base of midfield. Rovella’s consistency and composure have not gone unnoticed, earning him pride in recent national team call-ups.
Lazio’s approach in the transfer market has been clear. Despite recent speculation and a reported €40 million offer from Inter, president Claudio Lotito has communicated that, unless the €50 million release clause is met, the club has no intention of selling Rovella. The midfielder is viewed as a vital component of their plans. With his market value listed at €30 million, Lazio’s acquisition is viewed as calculated business that strengthens their core.
Behind the scenes, the situation has added context. Rovella quickly became a key player for Lazio after his arrival, integrating into the squad and contributing to their midfield structure. However, the appointment of a new coach may add uncertainty to his central status moving forward.
Reports also suggest that while Rovella is now settled in Rome, his personal ties to Inter add another dimension. There is an understanding that, if he were to leave Lazio, Inter would be his preferred destination, but for now, all indications are that he remains part of Lazio’s long-term plans.
Rovella is represented by an agent and stands at 1.79 meters tall. With three years left on his contract and a significant buyout clause in place, Lazio have positioned themselves to either build around Rovella or extract full value should other clubs come calling.
